Titleist 2021 Combo Iron Sets Reviewed

Looking for the perfect Titleist Iron Combo Set? Over the last couple of weeks we've fitted dozens of customers and this is what we've found.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve featured Titleist’s 2021 Irons, and as a result have been fitting an inordinate number of Titleist Irons, particularly combo sets.

We’ve had some fascinating findings.  We’ve found some combo sets that work exceptionally well, some that work not so well, and we found a combo that really surprised us!

Let’s start by looking at some of the combo iron sets that we covered in our articles the last 2 weeks.

  1. T100/ T200 Combo Set
  2. T100S/ T200 Combo Set
  3. T100/ U505 Combo Set
  4. T100S/ U505 Combo Set
  5. T200/ U505 Combo Set
  6. T300/ U505 Combo Set

The T100/ T200 Combo Set is a real classic on Tour, with no less than Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Will Zalatoris and Cameron Smith wielding the T200 long irons and T100 short irons.

Hopping over to the other extreme, we’ve found that the T300/ U505 Combo Set doesn’t work quite as well.

Unsurprisingly, most players who opted for the T300, found the U505 a little unforgiving, and fared better with fairway woods in place of their long irons.

What was not on our recommended list, which a customer came in requesting was the T200/ T300 Combo set.

We never thought of it as a Combo Set that we would recommend, just because the T200/ U505 set goes so much better together, and that’s eventually what he ordered.

Titleist T200/U505 Combo Set

It was the T100S Combo sets that really surprised us.

The 4, 5 and 6 Irons of the T100S and the T200 are exactly the same loft, making it a seamless transition between sets.

The 4 Iron of the U505 is also exactly the same loft as both the T100S and the T200, so flowing form either set to the U505 is also completely seamless, and provides a perfect distance gap.

Specs only tell you a part of the story, but those specs got many of our customers interested in the T100S, T200 and U505.

What really surprised us, and I mean seriously surprised us, was that the T100S got consistently longer distances and tighter dispersions than that T100.  That’s almost unheard of in the world of strong lofted clubs.

We got a set of results like that, and thought he was the anomaly.  Then we got more and more similar results.  So we checked with Titleist, and we’re not wrong, the T100S is hitting longer and tighter.

In fact, more and more Tour Staff are starting to swap the T100 for the T100S, and many of them are playing with T200 and U505 long irons, since they fit perfectly.

I thought I'd leave you with a photo of the various Titleist Iron Combo Sets that worked the best for our customers.
